Bus Service for Students

Fay School is pleased to offer daily bus service for day students (for an additional fee). Bus service decreases traffic around the School, lessens Fay's impact on the environment, and provides a significant convenience to day families who live in surrounding communities.

During the 2024-25 school year, Fay is offering morning bus service along a single route. The route is created based off of demand and is subject to change.

If you are interested in adding a bus stop in your town, or if you have any questions, please contact Sam Renshaw at srenshaw@fayschool.org.

FAQ

List of 6 items.

  • What transportation company is Fay using?

Over the last several years, we have explored relationships with several bus companies, and we have settled on AA Transportation for the current academic year.
  • If a child has a problem on the bus, how will this be reported to parents, and by whom?

Problems on the bus are reported by a student to his or her homeroom teacher or advisor or to one of the division heads. The division head will call the parents to inform them about the issue and what is being done to resolve it. Parents may also call the appropriate division head with concerns about problems on the bus. If a student is causing problems on the bus, the driver will inform the School, and a teacher or division head will talk to the student, and if necessary, call the parents. Students who continually misbehave may be suspended from the bus for a period of time, or indefinitely.
  • What happens when a child misses the bus?

If a child misses the bus in the morning, it is the parent/caregiver's responsibility to transport him/her to school.

  • What happens on snow days?

If school is canceled because of snow, the buses will be canceled for the day. If the opening of school is delayed for any reason, parents should assume that morning buses will also be delayed for the same length of time.
  • Is there a minimum age required to ride a bus?

All Fay School students are welcome to ride a bus, regardless of age.
  • Can parents suggest a new stop or route?

We welcome input about modifying existing stop locations and/or adding new stops. When making a decision about a new stop location, Fay will take many factors into consideration, including: the number of children who would be served by the new stop, the time added to the bus route (which affects the length of time students are on the bus, as well as the time of the first pickup in the morning), and safety. Fay will also consider adding new routes if doing so is economically feasible. Please contact Sam Renshaw at srenshaw@fayschool.org with suggestions.
